FAQ
How to start a broadcast?
To start a relay: Menu => „File-New-Broadcast“or Ctrl+B. Put in players names, press => „ok“. You can decide now to do a manual relay or a relay with a given pgn-file from official tourney site. For a pgn-relay go to => „Game“in the game window, click on => „Transmit PGN“-select => „Internet file“. At => „Internet address“put in the URL of the pgn file and => „OK“. In the next window select the => „Game Number“. Sometimes with the pgn-file the clock times get delivered, often not. You can setup it manual with => Menu => „VIEW“ => „Manual Clocks“. For broadcasts you should have a high speed (i.e. DSL, Cable) internet connection, the polling of pgn-files costs some ressources of your connection.
How to kibitz a broadcast?
Click on Games tab -select the game(s) you want to kibitz by double click. Some games are marked with „!“on the left site. This are the top games. Fritz 9+10, Hiarcs 10, Junior 10, Shredder 10, Zap!Chess users can click „Follow best game“-Button, these games will open them in the multiboard.
How to watch or listen to video or radio transmissions here?
If all required components are downloaded and installed, TV-Radio Chessbase will open automatically when a media stream is being transmitted. Often to close the game window and open again and hitting „play“in Chess Media window will start the stream too.
Requirements:
recent version of Playchess GUI 8, 9 or 10 or ChessBase 9/10
- or recent version of the free software from http://www.fritzserver.org/PlayChessSetup.exe (latest version is 4.00 from Feb. 2007).
- Windows Media Player version 9 or 10. You can download the WMP10 here
By joining the Channel „Events“ you‘ll receive information about covered games, training sessions and Radio/TV transmissions. These requirements also apply for live audio/video commentary which you can only follow for a ducat fee. To update the free client: download the client - uninstall your old playchess.com client - install the downloaded file - reboot your PC.
How to get ducats?
